The Way We Worship: We believe our worship is scriptural
worship, motivated and directed by the Holy Spirit.
- Hands
Lifted
Up:
(1 Timothy 2:8) "I
will, therefore, that men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands without
wrath and doubting.” The lifting of our hands can mean many things. It
can be a physical response of heartfelt agreement with thought in song
sung, or a word spoken. It also expresses our total surrender to God
in true worship to Him. -
Clapping of Hands:
(Psalm
47:1) Clapping of hands is a universal expression of joy
and another valid way of expressing worship to our great God and King.
- Tongues &
Interpretation:
It is possible you will hear someone begin to speak
in tongues. The congregation often gives their attention to the
speaker. The congregation will wait, often in silence, for someone to
speak in English. The English that follows the speaking in tongues is
the interpretation of what the first speaker has said.
- Prophecy:
Sometimes a message will be
given in English without being preceded by someone speaking in tongues.
This is the scriptural gift of prophecy in operation
(1 Cor. 14)
- Audible Worship
Lip worship is accepted by the
Lord. (Psalm 63:5; 33:1-4) Throughout the service
you will hear a frequent response of“Amen”,
“Hallelujah” or some other verbal expression from
those in the congregation, this is not to be considered irreverent or
disrespectful. -
Singing in the Spirit:
(1
Cor. 14:14-15, Eph.5:19 & Cor. 3:16)
You will hear people spontaneously begin to sing
praise to God, both in English and in “other
tongues”. We may sing Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.
- Laying On of
Hands:
You
may see one of several placing their hands on someone asking for
special
prayer. - Healing
(Mark
16:18)
- Dedication(1 Tim. 4:14)
- Blessing(Mark 10:16)
- Under
the
Power:
Occasionally, especially in a
time of prayer, you may observe someone falling under the power of the
Holy Spirit. This has precedent in the scripture,
for example, Saul of Tarsus, (Acts 9:14), Peter, (Acts
10:10), and many times in church history up to the
present. This is a sovereign act of God when the power of His Holy
Spirit touches a person for some special purpose.
In
Conclusion:
If you attend our services you
may note other manifestations and gifts of the Holy Spirit. Before
making any judgement we encourage you to search the scriptures
thoroughly with an open mind. The matters dealt with have concerned
those practices not common in many traditional churches. Our main purpose and theme is
to preach Jesus Christ, crucified and risen again as Saviour.
“For God so
loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.” John 3:16
